Jet Intake Setup

Today I got my suction housing in the mail. Now I can cut out my hole for the intake. I wanted the clean out just outside the transom so I can clean it out in the middle of the lake. The lake I go boating on has a lot of weeds, so this is a must. Originally we measured 8 inches wide by 21 1/2 inches deep. This put the clean out 1/4 inch further inside the boat than I wanted. We screwed up, I'll admit it. So I took the piece we cut out, chopped a 3/4 inch chunk off the front of it and will re glass that in. With that 3/4 inch piece back in there, the clean out will be 1/4 inch behind the transom plate. Other than that, the pump is straight and centered in the hull.

Intake removed. The duct tape is holding in the piece I have to glass back in.

As it was in the pictures above, the intake was about 1/2 inch too high. A quick call to Tom at Jet Boat Performance recommended feathering the sides down and re-glassing it. Once this was done, I was left with about 1/4 inch of hull material to mount the intake. Definitely going to need some pump braces on this!

Finally got the intake installed. Marine Tex epoxy is no joke. This stuff is strong!

From the inside after the bolts have been installed. That piece of angle aluminum will be for a pump brace.
