So for this task, I used my angle grinder with a flap sanding disc on it. It removed old epoxy and rotten wood fast. It also made dust, lots of dust! But I managed to get the entire transom cleaned off along with cleaning up the area where the stringers will go. I also cleaned off the outside of the transom and removed the old dashboard wood.

Here are the holes in the transom.

I hope a standard Berkeley intake will be OK with this shape bottom.

Now onto the top. I cut out the fiberglass behind the old wood in the dashboard. Then it was just chiseling out the rotten wood.

While I was there, I figured I would start cutting out the old splash well where the outboard clamped to prepare to glass it in flat.

After all this mess was made, I took the hull outside and washed it out. Time to get some marine plywood and start the transom and stringers.
